Objectives
Black Unicorn PR was engaged by Keboola for a one-off campaign built around the announcement of the company’s $4.5M seed round. The core objectives were:
- Secure international media coverage for the funding announcement, with a flagship placement in a globally recognised tech outlet
- Develop a sharp, media-ready narrative that positioned Keboola clearly within a competitive DataOps landscape
- Execute a coordinated embargo strategy across international media
- Support the team with social media amplification to maximise the impact of the announcement
Context and strategic approach
Keboola came to us at a pivotal moment. The company had genuine traction, a differentiated product, and a strong investor line-up, but operated in a crowded field where clear positioning was essential. DataOps was becoming a buzzword, and we needed to make sure Keboola stood out from the noise.
We developed a messaging framework centred on a single, compelling idea: Keboola as the “operating system for data”. In other words, an all-in-one platform that democratises access to data infrastructure for any business, regardless of size or technical maturity.
VentureBeat was a clear target for Keboola and our pitch landed. The publication published a dedicated hero article. We also ran a wider international outreach to 20+ carefully selected publications on embargo lift day, covering the data, tech, startup, and CEE media verticals. The team supported Keboola throughout with a social media amplification playbook, helping the founders and investors turn the announcement into a sustained, multi-day conversation online.
