Unmissable fintech events in Europe and beyond in 2023

As Gordon Gekko famously said, “money never sleeps.” And that was before the times of fintech! Now, money moves at the speed of light and new technologies are created every day to better transfer, invest and spend it (and any other verb you can think of). So it’s key to stay up to date! Fintech media has emerged to cover all the news, and so have a plethora of conferences, summits and other events. With so much excitement surrounding the fintech industry, it can be overwhelming to determine which events are worth attending. How do you choose?

Because we love organisation and to help you plan your calendar for the year, we’ve compiled an at-a-glance selection of some of Europe’s best fintech events for 2023. We’ve arranged them in chronological order; at the end, there’s a short list highlighting the best conferences and meetups in Asia and North America, too.

Sthlm Fintech Week

15-16 February, Stockholm

2023’s action-packed calendar kicks off with Sthlm Fintech Week, which brings together hundreds of thought-leaders to foster new connections. Finovate Europe

14-15 March, London 

Why just innovate, when you could finovate?! Finovate prides itself on offering a curated, fast-paced experience with cutting-edge fintech that financial institutions can deploy now. All aspects of digital transformation in financial services will be covered in depth by industry experts from leading financial institutions, fintechs, investors, analysts and solutions providers.

Innovate Global Fintech Summit

17-18 April, London

IFGS convenes for the ninth year at the Guildhall, bringing together innovators, institutions, regulators, policy-makers, startups and investors for two-days of thought-provoking discussion. The event focuses on how fintech and financial services pave the way for economic growth, sustainability, and a financial system that caters for all. And who’d pass up an opportunity to learn so much and cruise around London Town for a few days? (Spoiler, we wouldn’t!)  

AltFi Festival Of Finance

25-26 April, London

We’re not go-with-the-flow people, we like to interrogate the status quo… just a little bit! The AltFi Festival of Finance is a two-day spectacular exploring innovation in fintech, banking and lending in the UK and Europe… the alt way! This year, the event focuses on the opportunities of a post-pandemic world and the new challenges presented by a global economic slowdown and rising cost of living. 

Nordic Fintech Summit

11 May, Helsinki 

The Nordics’ premier fintech fest returns with a live event spanning two stages and more than 40 international speakers. Over 500 decision-makers from the Nordics will get together to discuss Strategy & Business; Financing, Payments & Commerce; Banking Technology; ESG & Impact; and more. This year, there are a whole host of super interesting topics that will be covered, so buckle up! We’re talking new revenue sources in banking, ESG (the single biggest change in corporate banking), banking as a service becoming a reality, crypto, what’s next in Web3, CBDCs and stablecoins, Open Finance and Open Data, Core & Cloud Banking, who’s winning the mobile payment platform battle (we love a healthy competition story!) and AI first banking

Paris Fintech Forum

30-31 May, Paris

You know the ever-loathed cold call? The unsolicited sales pitch? The guy that tries to sell insurance in a mall? Well, Paris Fintech Forum promises to be the opposite of that. No sales speeches—only insightful panels, interviews and master classes and the famous fintech CEO pitches. Around 100 handpicked speakers will cover the most important topics in Banking, Insurance, Fintech, Regulators, Crypto & Digital assets, Payments, and Regtech. 

API Days

5 – 6 June, Helsinki & North

1-16 November, London

December, Paris (Exact date TBA)

“You don’t want your company to be digital, you want it to be programmable.” – API Days. Let that sink in. More than 14 countries have hosted API days since 2012, focusing on a range of industries. The event this year focuses on the banks versus brands war. apidays looks at how application programming interfaces (APIs) are enabling new competitors to enter the market via white-labeled banking-as-a-service platforms.

Money 20/20 Europe

6-8 June, Amsterdam

Look, they say hindsight is 20/20, but when it comes to money, it would be great if we could have perfect vision from the outset! Attracting around 7,500 attendees, 2,300 companies and 350 speakers from 90 countries in 2022, Money20/20 Europe bills itself as the place where global fintech communities do business. Attendees range from global leaders to new challengers and from tech giants to the fastest-growing startups.

Fintech Week London

19-23 June, London 

Old School meets New School at this inspiring gathering in London. These guys are friends, not foes, as Fintech Week London sees traditional financial institutions come together with fintechs in one of the world’s oldest financial districts. From high-street banks to challengers, technology giants to disruptors, this five-day event is an opportunity to understand the latest global themes of fintech. It’s also a unique forum to engage with London’s key influencers, decision-makers, and innovators.

FinTech Live

November, London (Exact date TBA)

The last edition of Fintech Live London saw hundreds of industry leaders and advocates from some of the world’s most influential companies benefit from direct, face-to-face networking opportunities. We feel like we’d get along well with the people of FinTech Live because they place such huge emphasis on establishing meaningful connections! Singapore Fintech Festival

15-17 November 2023, Singapore

As one of the world’s largest FinTech festivals, last year’s edition brought together over 60,000 participants from 160 countries. The Singapore Fintech Festival fosters links between the public and private sectors and presents ideas that have a significant economic impact. The week-long celebration is jam-packed with handpicked, interactive workshops and networking opportunities as the first in-person Festival since 2019. SFF 2022 was a genuine international reunion of the financial services sector, packed as it was with content stages, networking opportunities, and a bustling exhibition floor. So, before you head to Raffles for a Singapore Sling, might we suggest you swing into SFF?
